Dodgers Win NLCS Over Mets, Advance to World Series for First Time Since 2020

The Los Angeles Dodgers are going back to the World Series.

For the 22nd time in franchise history — and fourth time in the last eight years — the Dodgers have won the National League pennant.

The Dodgers beat the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series in six games, clinching the series with a 10-5 Game 6 win at Dodger Stadium. With the win, the Dodgers will officially meet the New York Yankees in this year’s World Series.

The Mets struck first in a bullpen game against Michael Kopech, plating one in the top of the first inning on a bad throw from Chris Taylor at second base.

However, the Dodgers responded quickly, as Tommy Edman hit a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning, bringing home Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández.

In the bottom of the third inning, Edman came through again, this time hitting a two-run home run, his first of the postseason.

A few batters later, Will Smith hit a two-run home run, and suddenly, the Dodgers had a commanding 6-1 lead.

The Mets didn’t go away easy, though, as Mark Vientos hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to three. However, the Dodgers added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Ohtani hit an RBI single, extending his streak to 18-for-his-last-22 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets scored one in the top of the seventh inning against Daniel Hudson, making it 7-4. However, Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless eighth inning — striking out the side — and the Dodgers offense tacked on in the bottom half of the inning.

Mookie Betts hit an RBI double and Teoscar Hernández hit a sacrifice fly, giving the Dodgers a 9-4 lead. Then, Kiké Hernández hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 10-4.

Treinen gave up one run in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough for New York.

The Dodgers officially punched their ticket to the World Series.
