ESPN Insider Predicts Teoscar Hernandez Leaves Dodgers for Blue Jays
ESPN insider David Schoenfield predicts Teoscar Hernández to re-sign with his former team this offseason. But that team is not the Dodgers.
While Schoenfield listed the Dodgers as a potential landing spot for Hernández, he predicted the three-time Silver Slugger to ultimately sign with the Toronto Blue Jays. Schoenfield predicted a three-year, $66 million contract for Hernández.

After the Houston Astros traded Hernández at the trade deadline in 2017, the Dominican outfielder played five and a half seasons with Toronto. He was named the franchise’s Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player in 2020. Hernández went on to earn his first All-Star selection the following season. The Blue Jays traded Hernández to the Seattle Mariners in November 2022.
After the World Series victory, it seemed inevitable that Hernández would stay in Los Angeles. However, the Dodgers still have not re-signed Hernández. Instead, Los Angeles has signed another corner outfielder, Michael Conforto.
Conforto signed a one-year, $17 million contract with the Dodgers at the beginning of December. Even though the Dodgers still seem interested in re-signing Hernández, Schoenfield thinks the addition of Conforto lessens the likelihood of a contract for Hernández.
“Knowing how much the Dodgers care about defense, it seems unlikely that they’ll go with both Hernandez and Conforto in the corners,” Schoenfield wrote. “So maybe that pushes Hernandez back to Toronto, where he played for five seasons as a regular, including an All-Star season in 2021. The Jays clearly need offense and pursued Soto to fill a hole in the outfield, so Hernandez is a reasonable backup plan.”
Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets on Dec. 8. He was the most popular free agent on the market. Now that he has made a decision, Hernández is a good alternative for teams that failed to acquire Soto.

Stupid. Forget about the WS in ’25.
It seems to me that the Blue Jays line up is very right handed. Santander would be a better fit for them.
