Former Dodger, Platinum Glover Willing to Train Players During Impending Lockout

Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is offering to train MLB players during the impending lockout.

Kiermaier played in parts of 12 MLB seasons, spending the back half of his final year as a player with the Dodgers in 2024 as he won his first championship.

“Teams are gonna be lockin their doors until further notice where players cannot step foot on any MLB facility until this CBA stuff gets resolved,” Kiermaier wrote. “Baseball will be played again sooner than later! I am here in Tampa all offseason. I will gladly travel if needed and the right opportunity comes about.

“This would be a great time to work with me so l can drop some game on these youngins to lead the way for them to be the best they’ve ever been by showing them the way to make all this happen! Please put your trust in me in this area and let me show you what we can accomplish! Let’s get to work!”

A four-time Gold Glover and a Platinum Glove winner, Kiermaier spent the offseason between the 2025 and 2026 seasons training players as well, including current Dodgers prospect Zach Ehrhard.

“Appreciate [Kevin Kiermaier] taking the time to work with [Zach Ehrhard] this offseason,” Michael Dillon, who represented Kiermaier in the majors and currently represents Erhard, wrote via Instagram. “It’s the little adjustments on and off the field that separate the good from the great. Z is well on his path to being great.”

What Did Kevin Kiermaier Do During His Career?

Kiermaier spent the first 10 of his 12 seasons in MLB with the Tampa Bay Rays, making his debut in 2013. He accrued 31.5 bWAR with the Rays, hitting 82 homers and driving in 316 runs with a .715 OPS—right around league average.

He won three of his four Gold Gloves with the Rays, winning consecutively in 2015 and 2016—earning MVP votes in 2015—and adding his third in 2019.

The outfielder left the Rays following the 2022 season to play with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he won his third Gold Glove in 2023.

The Dodgers traded for him at the following year’s deadline, and he featured in 34 games with the team. He hit a single home run and tallied eight RBIs while posting a .564 OPS.

Kiermaier also featured in that year’s postseason, largely as a defensive replacement, making four appearances and scoring two runs despite going hitless in two at-bats. He retired after the season.

Kiermaier was an elite defender in the outfield up until his retirement, and his skills are extremely valuable to MLB’s youth.
