Former Dodgers Fan Favorite Justin Turner Sends Message to Clayton Kershaw After Retirement

Los Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw ended an illustrious 18-year career in MLB with a third World Series ring. There could have been no better curtain call for the future Hall of Famer, and a former teammate of Kershaw’s acknowledged this at the ninth annual Justin Turner Golf Classic.

“I was glad he got in the extra-inning game. I’m glad he made that big pitch and got out of that jam. When you have guys like that who are just icons of the game, it’s pretty cool that they get to walk away from it winning their last one,” Turner told AM 570 Sports. “Very happy for him, what a career. I just can’t say enough about what he’s done for the career of baseball.”

Kershaw and Turner spent nine seasons as teammates in LA from 2014-22. Both veterans played a key role in the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series run, earning their first ring together.

Kershaw’s career came to its conclusion following the 2025 season and he gave an emotional speech at the World Series parade, which concluded at Dodger Stadium in front of a sold out crowd of fans.

“Thank you for 18 years, thank you for showing up and watching us play for the last 18 years,” Kershaw said. “Thank you for being here for me and my family and supporting us, and thank you for all you guys. Thank you to my teammates. You guys are the best in the world. You guys are the best team in the world, and you’ve been the best team in the world for as long as I remember.”

Kershaw leaves the game of baseball with three World Series championships, three Cy Young awards, 11 All-Star appearances, and the 2014 NL MVP. He’ll be in the Hall of Fame as soon as he’s eligible.
