Former Dodgers Pitcher Inducted to College Hall of Fame

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ross Stripling has been elected to the Hall of Fame of his alma mater, Texas A&M. Stripling, who played for the Dodgers from 2016-2020, was a top pitcher for the Aggies during his time in college.

After playing high school baseball at Carroll High School, Stripling stayed in Texas to attend Texas A&M. He began at Texas A&M in 2009 and appeared in 13 games as a reliever with a 2.51 ERA. As a sophomore in 2010, Stripling started 17 games. He went 6-5 and posted a 4.50 ERA while striking out 89.

Stripling went on to have his best season of collegiate baseball during his junior season at Texas A&M. He led the country with 14 wins and went 14-2 with a 2.29 ERA and 113 strikeouts. He pitched four complete games with one complete game shutout and finished third in school history in wins during a season. He was named an ABCA All-American, and the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week three times.

The Colorado Rockies drafted Stripling following his junior season, but he opted to return for his senior year at Texas Tech. As a senior, Stripling went 10-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 120 strikeouts.

Following his senior season, the Dodgers selected Stripling in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft. Stripling made his MLB debut on April 8, 2016, after earning a spot on the Opening Day starting rotation. As a rookie, Stripling went 5-9 with a 3.96 ERA and 74 strikeouts.

Stripling posted his best season as a Dodger in 2018 when he went 8-6 with a 3.02 ERA and struck out a career-high 136. He also made the All-Star for the lone time in his career. He stayed with the Dodgers until 2020 when he was traded at the deadline to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Kendall Williams and Ryan Noda.

Stripling spent over two seasons with the Blue Jays before playing for the San Francisco Giants in 2023, and the Oakland Athletics in 2024.
