Former Dodgers Reliever Claimed Off Waivers by AL East Team

Former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Yohan Ramírez has been claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox.

The right-hander was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Thursday and has now found a new home with another historic franchise. Ramírez had a cup of coffee with the Dodgers after he was traded to L.A. from the New York Mets in May 2024 in exchange for cash considerations.

In Los Angeles, Ramírez recorded an 0-4 record with a 5.52 ERA, 27 strikeouts, and a 1.47 WHIP. He allowed an opponents’ batting average of .283 in 29.1 innings and 27 appearances out of the bullpen. The Red Sox will be his fourth team in the 2024 season alone, and his seventh in a five-year major league career. Prior to the Dodgers, Ramírez spent time with the Baltimore Orioles and the Mets.

The Dominican Republic native has a career 4.51 ERA, 172 strikeouts, and a 1.37 WHIP with a 6-9 win-loss record in 139 games and 167.2 innings pitched.
