Jack Flaherty Doesn’t Expect to Re-Sign With Dodgers, Looking Forward to Beating LA Next Year
The Los Angeles Dodgers have added two starting pitchers this offseason, and are expecting to get a handful more back from injury.
Free agent additions Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki are joining Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a rotation that’s also expecting to get back Tyler Glasnow, Shohei Ohtani, and Tony Gonsolin, with other options like Dustin May, Landon Knack, and Bobby Miller available, too.
Of course, there’s also Clayton Kershaw, who’s expected to re-sign at some point this offseason.

Thus, the Dodgers are unlikely to make any more starting pitching additions this offseason, and one key free agent seems to understand that.
Dodgers free agent Jack Flaherty was on Foul Territory TV Thursday, and seems to have a sense that he won’t be re-signing with his hometown team this offseason.
“I’m not going back to L.A. most likely — I can do the numbers, do the math,” Flaherty said. “It doesn’t bother me. I’m trying to go elsewhere and win and see if we can’t beat those guys.”
Flaherty understands that the L.A. rotation is overflowing with talent right now. Coming off a bounce back 2024 season, he likely wants to make sure he gets the payday he deserves.
Flaherty had a 3.17 ERA across 28 starts last season between the Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. Despite being traded from the Tigers at the deadline, he said he would be open to a return to Detroit.
“We’ve been talking to them, talking to other teams,” Flaherty said of Detroit. “It would be fun to go back there.”

All the best to Jack. Except when pitching against the Dodgers.
