The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series for the second straight season in 2025, and there has been no shortage of drama regarding their recent dominance in MLB.
The Dodgers have shown over recent years they’re more than willing to spend money to secure top free agents, which has caused plenty of discourse across the league. Former NFL center Jason Kelce expressed his opinion on the matter on the New Heights podcast.

“You’re telling me I’m supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team who just spends more money than everybody else?” Kelce said. “Who the f— cares about either?”
“That’s why baseball sucks. You just buy World Series championships… Everybody knew this was going to happen before the season. We just had a bunch of meaningless s— happen before it, then it happened.”
While the Dodgers did have the highest payroll in MLB last season at $350 million, what Kelce neglects to mention is two other teams also sat above the $300 million mark.
The New York Mets missed the playoffs with a $342 million payroll, proving money doesn’t translate directly to wins, and the New York Yankees lost in the postseason despite their similarly huge wages. The Philadelphia Phillies sat just below $300 million, and also lost to the Dodgers in the NLDS.
The Dodgers faced the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series as well, and they were one of just five teams to have a payroll above $250 million.

LA’s spending plays a part in their success, however their smart decisions in free agency and in trades gave them the edge in the postseason over their rivals. The Dodgers have also done well in player development, with key players like Will Smith and Max Muncy playing a huge role in the Dodgers’ Game 7 win.
The Dodgers have access to the top free agents because they’re willing to spend, but organizational decisions and financial responsibility are still big factors in a team’s success.

Since when does ANY dedicated baseball fan listen to ANYTHING that Jason Kelce has to say? He just strying to somehow stay relevant in sports and has no business commenting on something he knows nothing about. I give him a thousand miligiveashits for his opinion…
yep, exactly. guy’s toast, and he never played baseball to begin with. go away now, Jason, we’re done here.
Boy shut up
Jason who?
Oh the brother of that footballer who dates the biggest pop star on earth Taylor Swift.
Jason has a podcast! Gosh he must really well versed in all sports!. ?
@Jason Fece, funny you say that when you signed a one year 14.25 million contract a couple years ago with the Eagles
Jason who?

Jason who ? gives a shit what that fool says he sucks .
How does having the highest payroll explain a rarely used veteran bench player barreling up a slider and parking it into the stands for a tying home run with the Dodgers two outs from LOSING the World Series? Do the Dodgers even make the NLCS if a young Phillies pitcher hadn’t panicked on a throw to home plate on the final play of the NLDS? Stay in your lane Jason.
I believe Jason had to think of something to say to keep his viewership up! He obviously does not know baseball.
Boy be quiet and worry about your QB
Hey Steve, are you related to Marv Thorneberry?
Worry about football maybe you can get in as a wild card. Where were you when teams had to cheat the Dodgers with ear pieces telling you what pitch is coming.
It’s not like his past team, The Philadelphia Eagles don’t buy players in free agency. You got your rings, so stop crying about baseball. Football is big business with high payroll too Jason Kelce, remember? Maybe Jason should donate some NFL earnings to the Phillies. Not that it would help them beat the repeat World Champions! Look, free agency in sports in general has
spoiled Baseball, Football, Soccer, Basketball, you name it. I could cry about that but Jason, that ship has sailed.
Does anyone care what Jason Kelce thinks? Was he even that good when he played? He should stick to doing cereal commercials
Had to Google to find out who this idiot is….
HELLO!! You there? Baseball is a business – if course they buy talent – all teams do. Just like football!!
Noone who’s a fan of baseball cares what a tush pusher has to say! Sorry not sorry! Go Dodgers!
Oh come on. That’s just mean. He also does hotel commercials. Buwhahahaha! He’d actually be doing nothing more than his irrelevant podcast if his brother wasn’t dating Taylor Swift.
I learned a lot from this. Thank you.
Who???
