New Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kyle Tucker signed a massive four-year, $240 million deal, though his contract includes a clause that will help out local charities.

According to reporting from The New York Post’s Jon Heyman, there is a clause in Tucker’s deal that will give the team’s charity $200,000 in 2026 and 2027, increasing to $250,000 per year in 2028 and 2029.

The Dodgers have the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, their charity group that has initiated efforts to help the local community throughout Los Angeles.

The initiatives serve youth by expanding access to baseball and helping improve the education system.

Additionally, there are coach training, scholarships, and food drives that help at various points throughout the year, including seasonal events and year-long initiatives.

Tucker has his own charity, aptly named the Kyle Tucker Foundation, which “raises awareness and provides support for hospice care programs, while also giving back to other meaningful causes in the community.”

Why did Kyle Tucker choose the Dodgers?

In his introductory press conference, Tucker highlighted the reason he chose the Dodgers, opting to pass on other interested teams in favor of Los Angeles.

“There are a lot of great ball clubs out there with great teams, and they all have unique things that make them great,” Tucker said.

“But kind of like I said, I think this organization from the top down is first-class, and the team that these guys put together and assembled to give a great product for the fan base and the city to go out there and compete for a championship kind of speaks for itself.

“Just kind of taking everything into account and wanting to be a part of that, I think is very special. You don’t really get that very often. So it’ll be a lot of fun playing with these guys and competing for another, hopefully, a three-peat here.”

Tucker is expected to bat at the top of the lineup, providing a steady offensive presence and complementing the team’s other stars.

He should end up batting higher than Mookie Betts, who is coming off a down year, while Will Smith and Freddie Freeman provided limited base-running chops.

Shohei Ohtani will be expected to lead off, but Tucker could slot in as high as No. 2 in order, carrying the responsibility of bringing home the Japanese star.
