Latest Tarik Skubal Update Bodes Well For Dodgers

Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain provided a massive Tarik Skubal update that bodes well for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

McKain noted that both New York teams — the Yankees and Mets — are pushing hard to acquire Skubal, but the asking price could ultimately keep them from landing the two-time Cy Young winner. If that remains the case, that would bode well for the Dodgers.

“As far as Tarik Skubal goes, the Yankees have been a team that have been inquiring and trying to get [him]. My understanding from the Yankees and the Mets is [the asking price] was too high for them,” McKain said on Dodgers Dougout Live. “The Yankees haven’t added anyone yet. The Yankees don’t want to give up their top prospects and they don’t want to give up too much on their end.

“From my understanding, the Yankees, the Mets and one other team I’ve checked in on, they don’t see how it’s going to happen based on what they gauge is the asking price. I think this is great news for the Dodgers. If there was another team out there that was as all-in for the World Series as the Dodgers are, I think we would’ve seen him get traded this offseason.”

Are the Dodgers Still Lurking in the Tarik Skubal Sweepstakes Despite Quiet Rumors?

The rumors of Skubal to L.A. may have died down; however, it would be idiotic to rule out the Dodgers in the race.

The Dodgers have always been able to pull off the impossible. That could very well be the case with the Skubal sweepstakes. Unless the Detroit Tigers say that they will keep Skubal –– at least until the end of the 2026 season — the Dodgers will remain at the top of the running.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic mentioned how the Tigers still have a “significant” asking price in trade talks for the two-time All-Star. As things stand, the exact package the Tigers would want in return is unclear.

Skubal will likely enter the 2026 season as a Tiger, but whether he will finish it in the Motor City or not remains a mystery.
