Miguel Rojas Reveals Shohei Ohtani’s Reaction to World Series Game 7 Home Run

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas recounted Shohei Ohtani’s reaction to his legendary solo home run in the top of the ninth inning in Game 7 of the World Series.

Rojas came in clutch for the Dodgers in Game 7, hitting his first home run in nearly two months to tie the game and pave the way for the Dodgers to take a dramatic World Series win on the road. Ohtani would have been next in the batting order, and Rojas said he saw relief when he headed towards home plate.

“When I’m rounding the bases I’m thinking about my family, I’m thinking about my wife,” Rojas said. “I’m thinking the possibility of winning the World Series because we just tied the game. But when I get to home plate, I see Shohei and I see a sign of relief. Remember, Shohei Ohtani gave up a three-run homer to Bo Bichette, and he’d potentially be the last out of the World Series.”

Rojas also said someone like Ohtani, who had been carrying the Dodgers both on the mound and at the plate, and didn’t deserve to hold all the blame.

How Good Has Shohei Ohtani Been for the Dodgers?

Since his arrival ahead of the 2024 season, Ohtani has — without a doubt — been the single best player in the National League.

Since his switch to the NL West, Ohtani has won consecutive unanimous MVPs in the NL, and he’s looked good doing it. He has accrued 15.8 bWAR across two seasons, posting an OPS north of 1.000 across 317 games. He’s hit more than 50 home runs in both of his seasons in LA, breaking the Dodgers’ single-season home run record on both occasions.

It goes without saying he’s also been an All-Star and won the Silver Slugger in both years.

He also had great postseasons with the Dodgers, especially in 2025. He managed eight home runs and 14 RBIs during the 2025 postseason, winning the NLCS MVP award and posting an OPS of 1.096.

Ohtani is still under contract with the Dodgers through the 2033 season, so he has plenty of time to make his own iconic moments with L.A. — though he already has plenty.

  1. Does anybody wonder why Rojas has been such a great addition to the Dodgers? Its just this type of organizational loyalty to the team and to its players and stars, that defines Miggy Ro and explains why should be given a coaching job as instructor to the up and coming Dodgers in the minors and someday for the major league squad, GO, Miggy RO! 🙂
