Miguel Rojas Says It’s An ‘Expectation’ Dodgers Will Break Single-Season Win Record in Shocking Statement

Expectations are high for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025, and why wouldn’t they be?

The team added a ridiculous amount of talent in the form of Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, Hyeseong Kim, and Michael Conforto. The Dodgers also re-signed Teoscar Hernández and Blake Treinen while extending Tommy Edman.

But one infielder thinks the Dodgers are going to do something no other team has done before: Break the single-season win record.

The 2001 Mariners’ 116 wins have stood the test of time and only the 2021 Dodgers have come close to touching it when they won 111 games. But neither of those teams won the World Series which is what the Dodgers are also trying to do.

“This year, if everybody’s healthy you’ll win 120 games,” Miguel Rojas said on The Chris Rose Show. “With that roster? I know it’s a lot but with that roster you’re supposed to go out there and win.

“I don’t think it’s a goal, it’s an expectation. It’s the expectation that we have. It’s winning every single day, that’s why I put a number on it.”

In 2025, the Dodgers’ payroll, benefits, and luxury taxes are expected to total around half a billion dollars under MLB’s tax accounting system. No team in league history has spent that much in a single season.

But despite all that. The Dodgers, who are viewed as the best team in baseball, only have roughly a 25 percent chance of winning the World Series, according to oddsmakers. That leaves a 75 percent probability that this star-studded roster falls short of a championship.

Los Angeles is bound for the playoffs. The only thing preventing them from reaching the postseason is a catastrophic implosion. But whether they win 120 games or 98 games, winning the World Series is the ultimate goal and why the front office spent so much this winter.

However, any team can win on any day. The Dodgers experienced that when they were eliminated in the division series by an 84-win team in 2023 and by an 89-win team in 2022. They were also one loss away from being eliminated by the San Diego Padres in the NLDS last season.

If the Dodgers win 120 games and are still healthy come October, it will be tough for any team to stop them from obtaining their ultimate goal.

  1. Great to hear from Miggy. Now bring back Kersh & Kiki and LET’S GO DODGERS!!!
(Quick problem with the article, the Dodgers won 111 games in *2022*, not 2021.)
