MLB Analyst Says There’s a ‘0 Percent Chance’ Dodgers Don’t Sign Roki Sasaki
The clock is ticking for starting pitcher Roki Sasaki to decide which MLB team to sign with.
On a recent edition of MLB Hot Stove on MLB Network, two analysts revealed what they believe the chances are that Sasaki does not join the Los Angeles Dodgers. The reigning World Series champions are viewed as the frontrunners for Sasaki.
Analyst Matt Vasgerian settled on a 50 percent chance. Meanwhile, analyst Harold Reynolds said there is a 0 percent chance Sasaki signs with another team.

Despite giving Sasaki a 50 percent chance of signing with another franchise, Vasgerian agreed that the 23-year-old would end up with Los Angeles.
“I think he is probably headed to the Dodgers on the route to get richer,” Vasgerian said.
The Dodgers are reportedly among three finalists for Sasaki alongside the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays. Conversely, the San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Texas Rangers are no longer candidates for Sasaki.

Los Angeles has already pulled off several blockbuster moves this offseason. From signing two-time Cy Young pitcher Blake Snell to securing fan-favorite Teoscar Hernández for three more seasons, signing Sasaki is likely the Dodgers’ next step.
Sasaki had a second meeting with the Dodgers on Tuesday. The meeting reportedly included current players but no names have been reported.
Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were likely among players in Sasaki’s meeting. The trio were teammates on Team Japan at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
The Japanese-born free agent must agree to a deal by Jan. 23, which is when his negotiating window closes. If he does not sign a contract by then, he will return to Nippon Professional Baseball for the 2025 season.
