Right-handed pitcher Raisel Iglesias, who re-signed with the Atlanta Braves on a one-year, $16 million deal on Wednesday, reportedly turned down a similar offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

MLB insider Francys Romero said Iglesias received interest from the Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, but chose to return to the Braves instead.
He said the Dodgers made an offer, while the Blue Jays were just interested but never formally offered Iglesias a contract.
Iglesias, 35, struggled early in 2025 but ended up bouncing back to have a solid season, finishing with a 3.21 ERA across 67.1 innings pitched. He had 29 saves and finished 57 games, while striking out 73 batters with 16 walks.
Iglesias was one of the game’s best closers in 2024, sporting a 1.95 ERA with 34 saves across 69.1 innings pitched. In his three-plus seasons with Atlanta, he has accrued a 2.35 ERA and 97 saves across 166 appearances.
Iglesias was in the second tier of a reliever-heavy market, below the likes of Edwin Diaz, Robert Suarez and Devin Williams. However, his one-year, $16 million pact is likely something the Dodgers would have preferred to the one Diaz is expected to get, especially after giving Tanner Scott a four-year, $72 million deal last year.

The Dodgers want to add a closer this offseason, and will continue their search with one of the best ones off the market. The Dodgers are expected to heavily pursue Williams and former Tampa Bay Ray Pete Fairbanks this offseason, among others.
