The New York Yankees made their first significant move of the offseason, agreeing to a deal with veteran left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough on a one-year, $2.5 million deal, per multiple reports.

Yarbrough, 33, is re-upping with the Yankees for a second season. He appeared in 19 games (making eight starts) last season, sporting a 4.36 ERA across 64 innings. He didn’t appear in a postseason game.
Yarbrough is the second major-league free agent to agree to a deal, as All-Star Josh Naylor agreed to a five-year deal with the Seattle Mariners over the weekend.
Ryan Yarbrough Career
Yarbrough was drafted by the Mariners in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays ahead of the 2017 season, and debuted there in 2018.
He spent five years with the Rays before signing with the Kansas City Royals in free agency. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of the 2023 deadline, and appeared in parts of 2023 and 2024 with LA before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Overall, Yarbrough has made 215 appearances (76 starts) at the MLB level, accruing a 4.22 ERA across 832 innings.
He’s a soft-tossing lefty, averaging just 87.5 mph on his fastball, which ranked in the 1st percentile in all of MLB last season. However, he induces tons of soft contact, as he was in the 97th percentile of average exit velocity at 86.1.
Yarbrough has carved out a role in MLB for nearly a decade, and has earned another contract heading into 2026.
