Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts added his name to another piece of history, becoming the 10,000th home run in the franchise’s history.
His homer came in the first inning, during his first at-bat of Saturday’s game against the Miami Marlins.
He got ahold of a splitter and launched it 399 feet, getting ahold of it at 103.5 miles per hour off the bat.
For a guy who has won three World Series titles with the Dodgers and become the face of the current golden age of Dodger baseball, his legacy doesn’t seem done growing yet.
The Dodgers’ 10,000th home run was followed immediately by No. 10,001 thanks to Max Muncy.
Mookie Betts’ 2026 season
The home run was meaningful for Betts as well, who now has 20 on the year, tying his total from 2025 and surpassing his total from 2024.
With a few weeks left, Betts will surpass his 2025 total, which was his most disappointing offensive season thus far.
2026 has been somewhat more of the same for Betts, as he struggled for most of the year, but in the stretch run, he is putting together great at-bats.
He is still producing around league average offensively, with a 102 wRC+, but his defense remains among the league’s best for shortstops.
Overall, Betts remains a good ballplayer with the experience and clutch gene to step up when he is needed most.
