Gavin Lux is an American professional baseball player who currently plays as a second baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was born on November 23, 1997, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Lux was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft and made his Major League debut in 2019. He quickly established himself as one of the top prospects in the Dodgers organization and has shown flashes of his potential as a power-hitting second baseman. 

Despite his young age, Lux is known for his advanced hitting approach and ability to play multiple positions on the field. The infielder made the transition to shortstop for the 2023 season, playing the position the Dodgers originally drafted him at.

Lux’s uncle, Augie Schmidt IV, was a former baseball player and was a former MLB draft pick. Gavin has cited Schmidt as a key contributor to his success as a baseball player, helping on the physical and mental side of the game.
