Reds Select Contract of 2 Former Dodgers

Two former Los Angeles Dodgers were selected by the Cincinnati Reds to move back up to the majors. Both catcher Austin Wynns and infielder Edwin Ríos had their contracts selected, and made their return to major league game action over the weekend.

Wynns was briefly on the Dodgers during the 2023 season, appearing in five games and notching two hits for the team. He also played for the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies in 2023, and is currently on his fifth franchise. Wynns has slashed .250/.307/.404 with four home runs and 17 RBIs in Triple-A this year.

Ríos had a longer tenure with the Dodgers, playing for them from 2019-2022. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Dodgers in the 2015 MLB Draft, and was part of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series-winning team. He appeared in 112 major league games with the Dodgers, posting 20 home runs and 43 RBIs over parts of four seasons. He has since played for the Chicago Cubs and now the Reds.

Ríos has slashed .243/.340/.486 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs in Triple-A this season.

After their return to the majors, Wynns recorded one hit. Ríos has had one at-bat, but no hits or walks so far.
