Scott Boras Talks Chances of Cody Bellinger, Dodgers Reunion

Now that the 2025 MLB Winter Meetings have wrapped up, the Los Angeles Dodgers are still looking for a top outfielder to add to their already-potent lineup.

The Dodgers have already made one big move this offseason, leaving the Winter Meetings with one of the crown jewels of free agency in former Mets closer Edwin Diaz, who the team signed to a record-setting three-year, $69 million contract.

While rumors about the Dodgers’ involvement in trade talks for Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal continue to surface, the Dodgers still have a clear need in the outfield.

It is likely that free agent Kyle Tucker, who is just 28-years-old, is looking for a longer-term deal than the Dodgers are willing to give him, but there are other intriguing options on the market.

One player who has continuously been linked to the Dodgers is Cody Bellinger, who spent the first six seasons of his career in L.A. Bellinger was non-tendered after the 2022 season, ending his contract a year early after injuries affected his batting performance.

Three seasons later, Bellinger is back to form, hitting .272 in 2025 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI. The 2019 MVP’s agent, Scot Boras, told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain that he could be open to a reunion.

“He loved his time as a Dodger, there’s no doubt about it,” Boras told McKain at the MLB Winter Meetings. “It was always good, he won a world championship there, he won an MVP there, rookie of the year there. When you do that, I think you’re going to like where you’re playing. He has a very open mind about free agency and the possibilities.”

Bellinger is expected to command roughly $30 million annually, with Spotrac projecting him to sign a six-year deal in free agency. While the Dodgers would likely aim to shorten the terms of his contract, they’ve shown that they are willing to spend in order to win.

“I think in today’s world, everyone views the Dodgers as a Goliath, and when Goliath wants something, we’ll see,” Boras said. “They’re people that really have shown a great amount of acuity to put together winning teams, and I don’t expect anything different of them going forward.”
