Teoscar Hernandez Cries While Addressing Dodgers Fans at World Series Parade

Teoscar Hernández fought back tears while speaking to the cheering crowd at Dodger Stadium on Friday. Hernández was one of the players to take the microphone during the Dodgers’ World Series victory celebration at Dodger Stadium, and he could not help but get choked up as the crowd grew louder in support.

“You guys made this dream come true,” Hernández said. “Thank you for making me a World Champion.”

“That’s how much I care, how much I appreciate everything that this organization, these fans have given to me,” Hernández said. “When I show that kind of emotion, that’s when I truly feel it. I’ve been blessed to be here.”

The World Series victory marked the end of a prove-it season for Hernández. Hernández opted to sign with the Dodgers on a one-year deal in January over heading to a team that offered him a multi-year contract. The decision received criticism at the time, but now has worked out for Hernández, who hit a career-high in home runs this season and is officially a champion.

“Nine months ago every agent criticized me and Teo for taking a 1-year deal,” Hernandez’s agent Rafa Nieves wrote on X in October. “The truth is, the market was soft for everyone, and he was coming off a down year while playing in a very pitcher friendly environment. We were looking for a 3-year deal, and while reading the market and realizing that deal might not exist, I asked him what his priority was and he said he wanted to win and play deep into October, so we pivoted and focused on getting the best short term deal on the best team interested.”

Hernández is hoping that speech will not be the last time he takes Dodger Stadium as his home field. Throughout the season, Hernández has re-iterated that he wants to sign with the Dodgers again and stay with the team in the future. If the decision were up to Hernández, he would sign an extension with the Dodgers as soon as possible.

The Dodgers have already decided to retain Miguel Rojas and Austin Barnes for next season, will they do the same with Hernández?
