The Dodgers Have Their Next Big Left-Handed Pitching Prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a promising prospect rising up the ranks in Justin Wrobleski. The 23-year-old left hander was drafted by the Dodgers back in 2021, and finally made his start with Triple-A this season.

Wrobleski began the season with Double-A, going 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 13 starts. He just made the switch to Triple-A in June, making two starts already. He made his debut with the Oklahoma City Dodgers on June 22. He allowed three earned runs and six hits in five innings while recording 11 strikeouts. He followed that up the next week, giving up two earned runs in 5.1 innings while recording six strikeouts.

He’s only two starts into his Triple-A career, but the Dodgers aren’t ruling out Wrobleski making his MLB debut this year either if he keeps progressing.

“I wouldn’t put it out of the question,” Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said, via Bill Plunkett with Baseball America. “Things can happen.”

“He’s developing,” Gomes added. “Getting him to Triple-A, throwing the big league ball, getting him in that environment, was definitely something we wanted to do. So we felt the timing is appropriate. He kind of did all he could at Double-A at this point. He’s certainly right there in the mix and has done everything he possibly can to put himself in the picture.”

Having another option as a starter would be great for the Dodgers, who have dealt with a number of injuries to both the rotation and bullpen.

It’s also especially valuable that the Dodgers appear to have their next great left-handed starting pitching prospect.
