Monterey Park Lunar New Year Festival

Ring in the Year of the Horse at one of Southern California’s biggest Lunar New Year celebrations! This vibrant open-street festival stretches over five downtown blocks and includes lion and dragon dances, live cultural performances, carnival rides and games, arts & crafts booths and more. Admission is free!
The Makers Hive Market @ Santa Monica Place

This is a free, family-friendly artisan market celebrating local creativity and small businesses. There will be 30+ local makers & artisans selling handcrafted goods, artisan products and unique gifts along with fun interactive experiences, food and live music!

Get revved up for Monster Jam, the iconic monster truck spectacle that brings huge trucks, thrilling stunts, and crowd-favorite drivers to the stadium dirt! Arrive early to the Pit Party for a chance to view the Monster Trucks up close and meet the drivers before the show begins.

Location: Manhattan Beach Pier
Date: Sunday, Feb 1 at 9:00 am PT
Join former Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Chris Taylor at his third annual CT3 Polar Plunge at the Manhattan Beach Pier. The event will help raise money for the CT3 Foundation, Friendship Foundation and Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
In addition to raising money for a good cause, the event will also attract some of Taylor’s former and current teammates from LA.
“I spent the majority of my career with the Dodgers, so it will probably be mostly current and former Dodgers,” Taylor said about which athletes will attend the event. “Hopefully we can get some other baseball players and maybe other L.A. athletes there as well.”

No. 2 UCLA Women’s Basketball vs. No. 8 Iowa Hawkeyes
Location: Pauley Pavilion, UCLA

UCLA women’s basketball is one of the best teams in the nation and will be going head-to-head with another top team, the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Bruins have their eye on a national championship, so don’t miss a chance to catch UCLA on the court before March Madness begins.
“I think UCLA has all the pieces to win it all, and I’ll be cheering for them,” Illinois women’s basketball coach Shauna Green said of the Bruins after their game on Wednesday.

Central 100 Centennial Celebration

This year marks 100 years since the iconic Los Angeles Central Library opened, and the city is celebrating with Central 100, a year-long celebration of learning, culture, and community. Visitors can explore new exhibitions in the library and see a recently opened century-old time capsule.
