The weekend is nearly upon us, though it starts with a solemn milestone.
Friday is the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., which claimed thousands of lives and permanently altered the country.

LA Card Show at Dodger Stadium
When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 1000 Vin Scully Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012
The Dodgers are on the road, but come out to Dodger Stadium to see the “most exciting collectibles event across the globe,” organizers said.
More than 650 vendors of collectibles and trading cards will be there, and it’s more than just sports cards.
Also being featured are Pokemon cards, Magic the Gathering, comics, toys, memorabilia and more.
“LA Card Show is a celebration of the vibrant culture of card collecting,” organizers said. “We bring together the best in cards, collectibles, food, music, fashion, and culture for a full day of buying, selling, trading, and connecting with the best community in the world.”
Tickets start at $30 plus a $3 fee, with VIP access running you $75 plus the $3 fee.
Those with VIP access get early admission to the event at 9 a.m., an hour before the gates open to the general public. They also get a commemorative badge, a limited edition bag, a special edition collector booster pack and access to an exclusive lounge.
The first 500 people in line will also get a special edition collectible LACS trading card.

Joe Kelly in Charity Golf Tourney
When: Sunday, Sept. 13, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Strawberry Farms Golf Club, 11 Strawberry Farm Road, Irvine, CA 92612
The second annual Dancers Against Cancer Charity Golf Tournament is this weekend, and participants include dancer and celebrity Jojo Siwa, as well as former Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly.
“Don’t miss your chance to golf alongside a World Series champion while supporting dancers fighting cancer,” organizers said.
Specifically, DAC and this event “raise funds for members of the dance community facing cancer by providing financial assistance for medical expenses, treatments and other essential needs.”
Last year’s event raised more than $100,000.
