No. 3 UCLA Women’s Basketball vs. No. 12 Maryland

USC Men and Women’s Basketball vs. Purdue
USC will be hosting both men and women’s basketball games against Purdue this weekend. The men will play first at the Galen Center at 3:00 pm PT on Saturday, then the women will compete at 2:00 pm PT on Sunday.

Big League Wiffle Ball at UCLA
Big League Wiffle Ball will open the 2026 calendar year at Wallis Annenberg Stadium at UCLA with its annual Bruin Bash Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 17. The one-day event will bring together all ten BLW teams for the first tournament of the year; the Los Angeles Naturals have won the past two tournaments and will look to claim their third-straight.

“Color is returning to the desert as early-season wildflowers begin blooming in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, with Henderson Canyon Road currently offering the most vibrant displays. While this is not a super bloom currently, the desert is alive with beauty for those who know where and how to look,” the Anza-Borrego Foundation wrote in a press release.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations
L.A.’s Official Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade
Bakewell Media and the Los Angeles Sentinel are organizing L.A.’s Official Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Monday, January 19. Cedric the Entertainer will be the Grand Marshal who will lead the celebration of MLK, freedom, equality, and community empowerment.
The event will have parade floats, marching bands, entertainers and more. The parade begins at Western and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd at 10 am PT.
MLK Day Volunteer Festival
After the parade, head to the LA Memorial Coliseum to participate in the MLK Day Volunteer Festival. Entry is free, and the event takes place from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm PT on Monday. Some of the volunteer opportunities include aiding wildfire recovery and supporting immigrant communities under deportation threats.
