The Los Angeles Dodgers are one season away from completing a historic three-peat in 2026, the first in the franchise’s history.
They’re currently the odds on favorites to win the World Series this year and accomplish the feat, but several other teams have the opportunity to step in and dethrone the Dodgers in 2026.

Who are the Dodgers’ Biggest Threats in 2026?
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees are always a threat to make a playoff push, regardless of the year. The Bronx Bombers had an uneventful offseason—mostly just re-signing their key pieces from last year like Trent Grisham Jr. and former Dodger Cody Bellinger—but still have the quality to win their division.
FanGraphs projects the Yankees to win their division and have the second-best record in the AL, giving them a reasonable road to the World Series.
Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners are the only AL team the New York Yankees are projected to have a worse record than, and are coming off of an impressive season despite falling just short. The M’s missed their first World Series appearance by a single game, and will certainly be hungry to make it to the Fall Classic this year.
Seattle kept most of their big names throughout the offseason, really only losing Eugenio Suarez — a minor loss when you look at his stats during his time with the Mariners following the trade deadline.
If they can perform at the standard many expect them to, they could very well surprise some people and finally win their first World Series.
New York Mets
The New York Mets had a shocking 2025 season, missing out on the playoffs completely before losing two of their best players to free agency. Despite those losses, though, they’ve done well to reinforce their roster.
They managed to grab some good names such as Bo Bichette, Luis Robert Jr., Devin Williams and Marcus Semien during the offseason, and there are plenty of others too. The Mets are projected to have the second-best record in baseball behind the Dodgers, and are primed for a bounce back season following their disappointing campaign a year ago.
Toronto Blue Jays
It’s hard not to include the Toronto Blue Jays after the spectacle they showed in the 2025 World Series. They had the Dodgers on the ropes for several games, and this season could have looked a lot different if one or two more plays swung in their favor.
They didn’t, though, so the Jays spent all offseason upgrading their team. Starting pitcher Dylan Cease and KBO star Cody Ponce went to Toronto this offseason, and another overseas star in Kazuma Okamoto is filling the spot Bichette left vacant.
The Blue Jays may not be division favorites, but it’s impossible to count them out with the quality on their team.
Atlanta Braves
For the third year in a row, the Braves are projected to have a very good season. Last year they didn’t deliver as many thought they would, as the absences of Jurickson Profar, Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. definitely hurt them.
This year they’ll miss Profar for the whole year, and Strider has looked abysmal so far in 2026. Acuña is back though, and that makes all the difference.
Despite the slew of injuries plaguing Atlanta right now, having a 40/70 upside player back in your lineup should be a huge boost of confidence, and with reigning NL Rookie of the Year Drake Baldwin and established veterans like Matt Olson, it’s hard to imagine they’ll be as bad as last year.
