Dodgers Place Yoshinobu Yamamoto On IL, Make Multiple Corresponding Moves

The inevitable has happened. The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed their right-handed active Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day IL. Los Angeles Times Mike DiGiovanna reported on Twitter/X. They also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the IL as well.

Due to Yamamoto’s move to the IL, the Dodgers made a corresponding move for right-handed pitchers, JP Feyereisen and Michael Petersen. Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register shared via Twitter/X.

Petersen has a locker room in the Dodgers clubhouse. He’s been impressive this season on Oklahoma City after getting a non-roster invitation with the team in January. The 30-year-old has been solid in relief for OKC, recording a 2-0 record, 1.61 ERA, 31 strikeouts, and a 0.72 WHIP in 23 games.

As for Feyereisen, he was optioned to Triple-A last month. He was called up to the big leagues at the start of May, but his time in the majors was forgettable, allowing six earned runs with an 8: 5 K: BB across nine innings.

The loss of Yamamoto is substantial, as he’s been one of the many bright spots for the Dodgers and the rotation. The 25-year-old was finding his groove in the United States, recording a 2.92 ERA (136 ERA+) and a 4.94 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

His presence and elite skill on the mound will be missed. Hopefully, this move to the IL isn’t extensive. Yamamoto is now one of many pitchers on the mend, including Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May.

The Dodgers still lead the National League West division with a 43-29 record, and they enter Sunday with a seven-game lead.
