Andy Pages Opens Up on Early Season Struggles for Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the best rosters in baseball, but perhaps the team’s weakest link is its outfield depth. The 2025 season marked Mookie Betts’ return to the infield, and with it comes some questions in the outfield.

Teoscar Hernández and Michael Conforto now fill the outfield corners, but who would occupy centerfield was largely a mystery throughout the spring. The competition for the final spot in the outfield was mostly between James Outman and Andy Pages after Tommy Edman took Hyeseong Kim’s spot in the infield
However, neither Outman nor Pages made it easy for the Dodgers to choose as both outfielders struggled to perform well in camp.
Nevertheless, Pages earned the starting spot and it put the second-year center fielder to the test as had to prove he deserved to remain in the lineup. Pages, like a few other Dodgers in the lineup, has struggled to produce at the plate.
He is batting just .171 with a .648 OPS. Prior to his two home runs, Pages was 4-for-35 at the plate. It was a drastically different performance from his .248 average, 13 home runs, and 46 runs batted in the 2024 season.
“That’s added a little bit of stress to my day-to-day,” Pages said to Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times of his struggles. “I feel good. It’s just some of the things that I’ve been working through haven’t worked out.”
Pages’ first homer of the season in the Dodgers’ 8-2 loss against the Washington Nationals was uplifting for the 24-year-old.
“It gave me a lot more confidence,” Pages said. “To get some results … was a major lift off my back.”
As the Dodgers return to L.A., Pages will look to build off his recent production at the plate and cement his spot in the lineup.
If not, Edman could always be shifted back to center field if the team wants to give Hyeseong Kim a shot at the Major League level.
