Blake Snell Claps Back at Giants Fan Who Called Him Out for Joining Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers made one of the early surprise splashes of this offseason, signing two-time Cy Young award winner Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal.
Snell joined the Dodgers after terrorizing them for the first nine years of his career, including the last four years in the National League West.

From 2021-23, Snell was a member of the San Diego Padres. Last year, Snell spent one season with the San Francisco Giants.
Snell was a free agent heading into last offseason and expected to command a massive deal on the open market coming off a Cy Young campaign. However, that deal never came, and Snell was forced to sign a two-year, $62 million deal with the Giants with an opt out after one season.
After struggling to start the season, Snell quickly turned things around, and was arguably the best pitcher in baseball during the second half of the season. That midseason turnaround let him to opt out of his contract with the Giants and enter free agency for the second consecutive season.
That’s when the Dodgers came calling.
The Dodgers pounced on the opportunity to sign Snell, someone they wanted both last offseason and during this year’s trade deadline.
Snell knew not to pass up the opportunity to sign with the defending champs, and was so excited that he announced the move himself.
Now with L.A., Snell has posted multiple photos on Instagram of him in a Dodgers jersey, clearly expressing his excitement to be with this organization. However, Giants fans appear to be a little upset that he left San Francisco for a division rival.
On Tuesday, Snell posted a photo of what appeared to be him working out with his Little League team. A Giants fan commented on the post, “Yeah we were following you when you were with the Giants. But sadly you choose (money) over greatness.”
Snell decided to respond.
Snell commented back, “Go Dodgers” with a blue heart emoji and then continued, “Be upset with your team. Don’t hate when you don’t know anything other than where I signed.”
At his introductory press conference last month, Snell expressed tons of excitement to be a Dodger, calling the decision to sign with L.A. an easy one.
“It was really easy, just because me and [partner] Haeley wanted to live here,” Snell said. “It’s something we’ve been talking about for a while. And when you look at the team, you look at what they’ve built, what they’re doing, it’s just something you want to be a part of. Look at the first three hitters in the lineup. It’s tough to go against. So to be on the other side and know they’re going to be hitting for me, it’s pretty exciting.”
He added: “I don’t think there’s a better situation that you could be in than being right here.”
Snell will see a lot of his former Giants team in NL West battles for years to come. His first opportunity to pitch against them will be June 13-15 at Dodger Stadium.
