Broadcaster Joe Davis was put in a bit of a pickle the last two seasons.
The lead broadcaster for FOX, he had the task of calling the last two World Series featuring the team he covers on a daily basis in the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Despite his young age relative to the profession, Davis is a pro — and is undeniably objective in calling games even when he has immense familiarity/relationships with the Dodgers organization.
Some might not share in the ‘objective’ statement when it pertains to Davis calling games featuring the Boys in Blue.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider recently was interviewed with the Foul Territory crew. Touching on several subjects, Schneider spoke about Davis and the job he did calling the 2025 World Series. His comments may ruffle some feathers for those in LA even when said in jest.
“When the Dodgers were winning, he was going crazy. I got a bone to pick with Joe. I wasn’t listening to the broadcast anyway. He’s got one of the best voices in the game. I love his energy. He’s really cool. I think he’s great at what he does, but I had to get that out there with a little subtle jab. We didn’t hear the broadcast. That was some complaints from some family and some friends and some other people around [because] they’re rooting for us, you know.”
It’s truly a ‘damned if you do damned if you don’t’ situation for Davis. No matter which teams are involved, the opposing squad 99-percent of the time feels as if they’re getting shortchanged when it comes to on-air praise.

The unique wrinkle in this situation ultimately was the fact Davis is the voice of the Dodgers. While some may have questioned his objectiveness, one can simply go back and re-watch the games/big moments and realize he was more than complimentary when calling a play made by the Blue Jays.
