Brewers Manager Takes Shot at Dodgers After Stunning NLCS Sweep

The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Brewers manager Pat Murphy didn’t hesitate to get one up on them.

Pat Murphy’s comments

After the Dodgers lost Game 4, falling 6-4 and getting swept, Murphy took the moment to champion his team, celebrating how they got one up on the Dodgers.

“They may have a bunch of Hall of Famers, but we have a bunch of gamers. And the gamers won this week,” Murphy said after the game on the Fox broadcast.

While Murphy, in all fairness, is right that the Brewers’ underdogs took one over the Dodgers and outfought a veteran team, the Dodgers certainly had their chances.

LA failed to produce with runners in scoring position, and some of the bullpen, along with Yoshinobu Yamamamoto and Tarik Skubal, disappointed.

While winning the series was a daunting task in hindsight, the Dodgers could have won at least a few games if they had hit better in the situations where they seemed to rise.

In the end, the team that played better did win, and the Brewers are rightfully through to the World Series.

Why the end of the season was so disappointing

The Dodgers were the favorite heading into the NLCS to take the series and the entire World Series title. They have been the overwhelming favorites since odds opened ahead of the new season.

LA splashed money on Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz, and added superstar Tarik Skubal at the trade deadline, all to push the chips in and go for a third straight title.

With the collective bargaining agreement set to expire after this year, the Dodgers are perfectly positioned for an all-in playoff push.

However, despite having chances in the NLCS to take control of the season, the Dodgers couldn’t deliver with runners in scoring position, and it cost them.

Now, the Dodgers go back to the drawing board to see how they can respond next season.
