The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to win their road series against the New York Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The Dodgers took a 2-1 win on Friday, with a two-run bomb from Max Muncy in the seventh inning making the difference. Roki Sasaki put together a solid start, allowing a singular unearned run through five innings of work with five strikeouts.
Inclement weather postponed the second game of the series, which was supposed to be on Saturday.
LA currently holds a 12.5-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West, and aim to extend their massive lead with another win.
Who is Starting for the Dodgers?
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start for the Dodgers, as they moved him up to replace Emmet Sheehan for the second game of the series. The Dodgers originally had Yamamoto set to start the third game of the set, but the doubleheader changed their plans.
Yamamoto has been one of the Dodgers’ better pitchers this season, posting a 2.85 ERA through his 17 starts this season. He has 106 strikeouts through 110.2 innings pitched.
He had a rough outing in his last start before the All-Star break, allowing six runs in as many innings, and will look to bounce back after a week-long rest.
Who is in the Dodgers’ Lineup?
The Dodgers kept most of their lineup the same, though made a couple of substitutions in the infield. Shohei Ohtani remains their leadoff hitter, and the No. 2 through No. 4 spots stay consistent with Andy Pages, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts following him.
Max Muncy remains at third base and will bat fifth, while right fielder Kyle Tucker keeps his No. 6 spot. On the other side of the outfield, Teoscar Hernandez will bat seventh followed by Tommy Edman, who slots in at second base. Catcher Dalton Rushing moves down a spot to bat ninth for the Dodgers.
