Dodgers Among 8 Teams Showing Interest in Former Yankees, Padres Reliever: Report
The Los Angeles are reportedly interested in signing one more left-handed reliever.
Pat Ragazzo, who covers the New York Mets and New York Yankees for On SI, reported in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that eight teams are showing interest in former San Diego Padres left-handed pitcher Tim Hill.
“Free agent lefty reliever Tim Hill is drawing interest from the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Angels,” Ragazzo wrote.

“There’s mutual interest on a reunion with the Yankees who remain in the mix, as do the Mets who are searching for another reliever.”
It seems like the Dodgers are interested in just about every big name but this one makes little sense. There is no room on the 40-man roster and the Dodgers just signed lefty Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72 million contract.
Add in Alex Vesia and Anthony Banda from the left side and there really isn’t a need to bring in another left-handed reliever.
Hill’s strengths are tailored toward neutralizing left-handed hitters. Throughout his career, he’s been known for his durability and reliability, traits that remain notable as he approaches his age-35 season.
The southpaw joined the Yankees last season on a one-year deal worth $740,000 in June, following his release by the White Sox. Prior to being designated for assignment by Chicago, he was playing on a one-year, $1.8 million contract.
Much like Michael Kopech, Hill thrived after a midseason change of scenery. He initially struggled with the White Sox, posting a 5.87 ERA over 23 innings. However, after joining the Yankees, he turned his season around serving as a reliable option in high-leverage situations.
The 34-year-old finished the regular season with an impressive 2.05 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP over 44 innings. During the playoffs, he maintained his effectiveness, giving up just one earned run over 8.1 innings as the Yankees advanced to the World Series.
