Dodgers’ Blake Treinen Wants to Finish Career in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Dodgers brought back Blake Treinen on a two-year, $22 million contract on the eve of the Winter Meetings. While the Dodgers also signed outfielder Michael Conforto earlier that day, the organization made sure to bring back their best reliever of 2024.
While New York fans were sent into a frenzy as Juan Soto made his way from the Bronx to Queens, Dodgers fans rejoiced as the team secured Treinen for another two seasons.
In a conversation with Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain, Treinen revealed he will likely retire with the Dodgers.
“If I didn’t want to finish as a Dodger, I probably wouldn’t have signed here this year,” Treinen said.
Treinen sported a 1.93 ERA in 2024. He also recorded a 30.4 percent strikeout rate, 6.0 percent walk rate, and 44.7 percent ground ball rate in 46.2 innings. His stellar numbers from the 2024 campaign made him a popular free agent this offseason.
Treinen, 36, dealt with a number of injuries before a strong performance that helped the Dodgers win their eighth World Series title. In 2023, the right-hander signed an extension with the Dodgers, but missed the entire season due to a reoccurring shoulder issue.
During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Treinen also dealt with the same shoulder injury. The right-hander helped the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020. Now, he’ll spend the next two years with L.A., and most likely the rest of his career, however long it may be.
