Dodgers Bring Back Blake Treinen on 2-Year Deal: Report

The Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing back their best reliever of 2024, Blake Treinen, on a two-year, $22 million contract, per MLB insider Ari Alexander.

In 2024, Treinen posted a 1.93 ERA, a 30.4 percent strikeout rate, 6.0 percent walk rate, and 44.7 percent ground ball rate in 46.2 innings. After a strong performance throughout the 2024 campaign, Treinen was a top target for several teams this winter.

Treinen, 36, dealt with a number of injuries before his bounce back season. In 2023, the right-hander signed an extension with the Dodgers, but missed the entire season due to a reoccurring shoulder issue.

During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Treinen also dealt with the same shoulder injury. But the right-hander helped the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020.

The eve of the Winter Meetings has been extremely busy for the Dodgers. Los Angeles added an outfielder by signing Michael Conforto and have now brought back Treinen on a two-year deal. Additionally, star outfielder Juan Soto signed a massive $765 million deal with the New York Mets, which means the Dodgers still need an outfielder.

The Dodgers have to decide whether to bring back other free agents that helped the team win the World Series, including Teoscar Hernández, Walker Buehler, and Kiké Hernández. However, it is now confirmed that Treinen will be returning to Los Angeles for the next two seasons.

  1. Now this is very very good news he not only made the Dodgers great again but they are rewarding The first Blake to keep the Dodgers great for a couple more years at least.

  2. I don’t see why Dodgers don’t resign Taoscer, or Kike or Walker. They all performed great in 2024 and are needed and wanted for outfield and especially pitching. Imo u can never have too many pitchers as the injuries last year showed. I also think a 6 man rotation is the way to go to help pitcher longevity.
