Dodgers Could Add in Steven Souza Jr and Andre Jackson This Week

The Dodgers could potentially be making a whole series of moves over the next week. With Tony Gonsolin and Clayton Kershaw slated to return soon, there are a few big decisions on the horizon. But this week, there are a few other minor moves they will need to make.

It turns out the Dodgers could be making 2 moves over the next 2 days to bring guys back. They need arms to get through the Cardinals series and to give them length. Mitch White is supposed to be the bulk guy tomorrow, and Dave Roberts said Monday that Andre Jackson should be back for Wednesday’s game.

Jackson would also be the bulk guy for that game. Roberts said that Jackson in on the Dodgers taxi squad along with outfielder Steven Souza Jr. Souza is not currently on the 40-man roster, so a move would have to be made for him to be activated.

But Doc did say that there is a chance he could be activated as soon as tomorrow. He would join the Dodgers outfield that is in need of a right-handed bat with AJ Pollock on the injured list. Souza has also hit decently at Triple-A after being DFA’d by the big league team earlier this year.

But there will be some help coming this week. Expect Souza to be activated on Tuesday and Jackson to get the call on Wednesday to pitch in that game.

  1. About time they called up that 25-year old prospect, DJ Peters. Oh, wait they gave him away (waived) around the trade deadline. BTW: he had 4 hits today, including 2 homers. He is hitting only .204 but far better than Bellinger or McKinney. He has 10 homers, the same as B and McKinney combined in FAR fewer AB’s. And he is a RH hitting outfielder.

    1. No one ever doubted Peters power or athleticism; just his ability to put the bat on the ball. Everyone is crushing Belli – and deservedly so – but Peters strikes out more. Along with his 205 BA, he has a SO rate of 35.2%.

  2. Steven Souza Jr. can help out in those 2 games against the Cardinals LHP Dodgers will see. That is because Roberts just may not want to start Bellinger in those games. And it’s impossible one would think that Souza Jr. could possibly be worse or as bad as Cody looks offensively at this time.

    1. At this point we might as well
attach a DFA tag on him even
      tho it hasn’t officially happened.
But that’s the only way to look at
it from a fan’s perspective since we
have a stubborn manager with a grudge!

    2. Dodger boy you hit the nail right on the head Beaty plays good defense and and can hit better than what they are putting up there.

  3. Please get Bellnger out of the lineup. There are plenty of other guys that can do better. Give someone else a chance to be the hero.

  4. Bellinger right now is completely useless, he misplayed a flyball the other night and at bat, there is only one person worse right now in the MLB and he is a rookie with the Mariners, the man has to be sent down to make room for a major leaguer.
