Dodgers Expected to Be Major Players in Willy Adames Sweepstakes: Report

The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly the team with the most strength to acquire All-Star shortstop Willy Adames. Speculation has swirled that the Dodgers are on the hunt for a franchise shortstop and Adames certainly fits the profile.

The contract is expected to be a six- or seven-year deal between $150-200 million dollars. Although the Dodgers brought back veteran Miguel Rojas, he will be a backup option for the team.

The Dodgers still want a long-term solution at shortstop. Adames is a prime candidate after hitting .258 with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs in 2024 with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Dodgers have also been linked to Juan Soto who is reportedly seeking a historic contract this winter. Soto is hoping to go with the highest bidder and the club that has the highest chance of winning. The Dodgers could reach both of those standards.

However, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman hasn’t provided any clarity as to which direction the Dodgers will decide to go in this offseason. The Dodgers also have to decide which players to re-sign that are free agents.

The list of free agents includes Walker Buehler, Blake Treinen, Jack Flaherty, Kiké Hernández, and Teoscar Hernández. If the Dodgers were to re-sign Teoscar Hernández and add Adames, then Tommy Edman would likely play center field.

If the Dodgers signed Adames, it’s hard to imagine that the front office would also bring back Kiké Hernández. After a legendary postseason, the utility man is a coveted target and is worth well beyond his $4 million salary.

There are a number of moving parts for the Dodgers this winter, but fans can trust that the minds of Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes can orchestrate a successful offseason.

Friedman and Gomes pulled off the historic trade deadline acquisitions of Edman, Flaherty, and Michael Kopech. The front office duo likely has some more tricks up their sleeve for the offseason.
