The perfect ending to a historic career came for Clayton Kershaw in Toronto on Saturday night.
Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers came away with a crazy 5-4 victory in extra innings over the Blue Jays to clinch the 2025 World Series. In the process, it was a fantastic send-off for Kershaw as the future Hall of Famer won his third career World Series ring.

The moment surely was not lost on Kershaw. He was one of the first players rushing onto the field once the final out was registered. A jubilant Kershaw was seemingly in disbelief raucously celebrating with his teammates.
As the on-field celebrations continued, one incredibly special moment was captured of Kershaw interacting with his family. The footage showed Kershaw being mobbed by his four children (Cali, Charley, Cooper, Chance) and his wife Ellen.
The raw emotion poured out of the entire family as they shared a moment none of them will ever forget. It was nearly two decades ago when a young Kershaw made his Major League debut as a high school kid coming out of Texas.
His high school sweetheart was with him every step of the way, and as Kershaw grew personally, his family grew – with all of his kids getting a front row seat to his brilliance as the family thrived in Los Angeles.
It was significant for Kershaw to contribute to a World Series-winning team one last time. He was arguably the most consistent starter throughout this season outside of Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Though his playoff participation was relatively low usage, Kershaw’s final moment as a player during the iconic extra-innings Game 3 marathon was a perfect bow on his phenomenal run as this generation’s best left-handed starter.
There’s only one question remaining as it pertains to Kershaw’s career: When will he get a statue outside of Dodger Stadium?
