Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman Considered Day-to-Day After Finger Injury

During the Los Angeles Dodgers game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, Los Angeles first baseman Freddie Freeman took a ground ball that got a bad hop. It caught his middle finger on his right hand and is now considered day-to-day.

His x-rays were negative thankfully so Freeman may not need to miss too much time. Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register posted the news on social media.

The Dodgers just got star Mookie Betts back from injury so the last thing they need is for Freeman to miss a significant amount of time. Los Angeles has been seeing players go in and out of the lineup all season but Freeman has been a steady presence.

On the season, Freeman has hit .292 with 17 home runs and 71 runs batted in. He has been a stable bat in the lineup for Los Angeles amid all the different issues that they have suffered.

The hope is that Freeman won’t be out for too long, if at all. He likely will miss the series finale against the Cardinals, if anything out of an abundance of caution.

The Dodgers need Freeman healthy if they want to reach their goals of winning the World Series so allowing him to fully heal may be the best course of action.

The team is looking to get some needed reinforcements this coming week as both Tommy Edman and Max Muncy are scheduled to return. Los Angeles desperately needs good health the rest of the way as the division race has gotten tighter than it’s been in years.

  1. WHAT THE DODGERS NEED IS STARTING PITCHING. HEALTHY POSITION PLAYERS ARE NECESSARY, AND HEALTHY, COMPETENT STARTERS ARE A MUST. EVERYONE KNOWS PITCHING IS AT LEAST 75% OF THE GAME, & THIS IS WHERE LA IS LACKING. THEY SIMPLY DON’T HAVE QUALITY STARTERS TO WIN IT ALL. THEY’LL BE LUCKY TO HANG ON AND WIN THE DIVISION, BUT THE REALITY IS THE STARTING PITCHING STAFF IS NOT CAPABLE OF GOING DEEP IN THE PLAYOFFS…IF THEY EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. WHAT REALLY IRKS US IS THE UNWILLINGNESS, AND/OR THE ABSURD IDIOCY, OF THE BASEBALL OPERATIONS’ BOSSES, THE ‘MONEY-MANGER’ HEDGE FUNDERS, STAN KASTEN AND ANDREW FRIEDMAN, TO HAVE SIGNED BLAKE SNELL AND JOSH HADER. WE WROTE, DURING FREE AGENCY, THAT THEY SHOULD UNQUESTIONABLY SIGN BOTH, BUT IT DIDN’T HAPPEN. INSTEAD THE DODGERS’ GENIUSES OPTED TO SIGN A PITCHER WHO’S HAD CONSISTENT, CAREER INJURY PROBLEMS, TYLER GLASNOW. COUPLE THIS FRONT OFFICE INEPTNESS WITH LOSING NOT ONE, BUT TWO ALL STAR SHORTSTOPS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, COREY SEAGER AND TREA TURNER. WHO THE HELL IS MAKING BASEBALL PERSONNEL DECISIONS? WHERE’S THE GREAT ED BARROW WHEN YOU NEED HIM?

    1. @ Vecchio. If you want anyone to actually read what you type or take you seriously, please stop YELLING IN ALL CAPS. I have no idea if you make valid points because I will never read a full block paragraph of that.
