Dodgers Have 2 Representatives for MLB Futures Game

The Los Angeles Dodgers have two prospects who will represent the organization at the annual MLB Futures Game.

MLB holds the MLB Futures Game every season to showcase the best prospects in baseball, allowing them to introduce themselves to a national audience. The Futures Game lasts seven innings, and will have an American League and National League team—a format which replaced the former USA vs. World format. In the six matchups since the format changed in 2019, the National League has won the contest on four occasions.

The Dodgers’ representatives for this season’s Futures Game are Double-A outfielders Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota.

The Dodgers definitely have more prospects who are capable of participating in the game, as they currently have nine players in MLB’s Top 100 prospects, but will have to settle for just the two. De Paula also participated in the Futures Game last season, alongside outfielder Zyhir Hope.

Who are the Dodgers Prospects in the Futures Game?

Josue De Paula

De Paula is the No. 1 prospect in the Dodgers’ organization, as well as the No. 4 prospect in baseball. He has been one of the best hitters anywhere in MiLB, posting a .947 OPS through 72 games with Double-A Tulsa this season.

He has 13 homers on the year, also tallying 60 RBIs. De Paula has taken a huge step up from last season, where he posted a .827 OPS through 98 games with 12 homers and 44 RBIs in High-A Great Lakes. De Paula won the Futures Game MVP last season.

Mike Sirota

Sirota has quickly risen through the ranks in the Dodgers’ system since the Cincinnati Reds traded him for Gavin Lux, posting a career 1.056 OPS in the minors so far in his career. He is currently on a 64-game on-base streak, which rivals the longest minor league streak of all time.

This year, Sirota has a 1.044 OPS across 69 games in High-A and Double-A, and has been equally impressive at both levels. Since moving to Double-A, he has five homers and 22 RBIs through 34 games with a 1.009 OPS.
