Dodgers Injury Update: Dustin May and Brusdar Graterol Threw ‘Promising’ Bullpens This Week
With all the recent injury news, some promising updates were provided on Saturday surrounding two pitchers who have yet to appear for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.
Dodgers Insider posted on social media Saturday afternoon before the Freeway Series game against the Los Angeles Angels saying that Dustin May and Brusdar Graterol threw bullpens this week in Arizona.
“Dustin threw a ‘pen this week and it was really good,” manager Dave Roberts said on Saturday. “He came out of it really well so that was really promising. Graterol threw a ‘pen as well. Really promising this week. Our expectation is that at some point in time, those guys are back this year.”
Graterol co-led the Dodgers with 68 appearances last season but he has been sidelined since spring training with right shoulder inflammation. Graterol went 4-2 with a 1.20 ERA last season, allowing only 53 hits and 12 walks across 67.1 innings.
He only made one Cactus League appearance this spring before he was sidelined by the injury. He did not allow a run.
The Dodgers didn’t expect May to return until the second half of the season after undergoing season-ending flexor tendon surgery and had a UCL revision in July of last year. He has a 3.10 career ERA over parts of five MLB seasons, with a 2.63 ERA in nine games (48 innings) during 2023.
