Dodgers: Jason Heyward Reveals What Number He’ll Wear with LA

The Dodgers haven’t been too active this offseason, but one of their signings came that of veteran Jason Heyward.

Heyward signed with Los Angeles in early December to a minor league deal after a subpar 2022 campaign with the Chicago Cubs.

A couple of days ago, Heyward posted his first Instagram post of 2023 and, in the sixth slide, revealed what number he will don with the Boys in Blue in 2023.

The caption for Heyward reads, “Let’s see what 23 holds.”

The 33-year-old has worn the number 22 for his entire career with the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs.

The five-time Gold Glove winner has a chance to make the major league roster and could fill the role in either left field or center field.

Heyward has a career .257 batting average, 159 total home runs, 641 RBIs, 1422 hits, and a career .746 OPS in 1579 games and 5527 ABs.

The latest player to don the number 23 was 2021 outfielder Steven Souza. Souza got some playing time in the 2021 NLCS in the outfield, and I couldn’t forget that even if I tried to.

Another more famous 23 in recent memory is Adrain Gonzalez. Gonzalez was traded to Los Angeles in 2012 and donned the number 23 for five seasons till 2017.

We hope to see Jason play for the big league club and get close to the All-Star level he once was.
