Dodgers Lineup, Shohei Ohtani’s Status Revealed for Game 3 of 2024 World Series
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is officially in the lineup for Game 3 of the World Series against the New York Yankees. Ohtani injured his shoulder while trying to steal second base in Game 2 of the World Series on Sunday. The two-time American League MVP was seen in visible pain after going down awkwardly on his shoulder, putting his status for the rest of the series in question.

Ohtani’s shoulder was said to have improved significantly on Monday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said they expected Ohtani to play in Game 3, but that the decision would officially depend on his pain tolerance. Now, Ohtani will officially play.
“Yeah, I think that taking dry swings, which he’s done,” Roberts said Sunday. “Then obviously taking balls off the tee, batting practice in the cage, that’s going to be telling. I think that he’s obviously very well aware of himself and his body. So if he feels good enough to go, then I see no reason why he wouldn’t be in there.”
Here is the Dodgers’ official Game 3 lineup:
1. Shohei Ohtani, DH
2. Mookie Betts, RF
3. Freddie Freeman, 1B
4. Teoscar Hernández, LF
5. Max Muncy, 3B
6. Will Smith, C
7. Gavin Lux, 2B
8. Kiké Hernández, CF
9. Tommy Edman, SS
The Dodgers currently have a 2-0 lead over the Yankees through the first two games of the series, but will play on the road at Yankee Stadium for the first time in Game 3. Through two games, Ohtani has one hit, one run, and one walk on eight at-bats.
The other notable part of the Game 3 lineup is the return of Gavin Lux. Lux did not play in Game 2 of the World Series because the Yankees were starting left-hander Carlos Rodón, and Lux does not bat as well against lefties. Lux will replace Miguel Rojas in the lineup, who did not record a hit or walk on three at-bats in Game 2.
