The Los Angeles Dodgers made their biggest signing of the offseason so far, signing relief pitcher Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million contract, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman revealed they are still looking to bring in players.
Friedman revealed the Dodgers are looking for a position player rather than a pitcher, and would prefer someone who is competent with both the bat and the glove.

“I think adding a position player, and ideally someone that’s really good on both sides of the ball,” Friedman said “We have some positional flexibility, so we’re not locked into, ‘It has to be this one specific spot,’ which just increases the chances. There are a lot of interesting guys, both on the free agent market and trade market, that we’re having a lot of active conversations on. We feel good about something lining up, but we may have to be a little bit patient.”
The Dodgers have a couple of positional needs, mainly an outfielder, but their problems have several solutions. Signing an outfielder outright would be perfect for LA, as they would be able to slot him into the vacancy they have in left after Michael Conforto’s departure this offseason.
LA has utility options in the outfield as well, though, and could move Tommy Edman to center field and Andy Pages to a corner outfield role should they find a better option in the infield compared to the outfield.

The Dodgers have been linked to players across the league in both trades and free agency, with names like Kyle Tucker, Cody Bellinger, Jarren Duran and Brendan Donovan surfacing around the rumor mill. All four of these names, as well as many other unlisted, fit the description of player Friedman is looking for, and will keep the Dodgers as one of the heavy favorites for the 2026 World Series.

Sign Bo Bichette and trade for Jarren Duran! Bichette is willing to play second base.
Great idea. Let’s tell King Midas about it.
