Biggio, 29, was designated for assignment on June 7 after appearing in 44 games with Toronto. He slashed .200/.323/.291 this season with two home runs and nine runs batted in. He has a career slash line of .227/.343/.382 with 48 home runs and 176 RBIs in 490 games.

Biggio can play all over the diamond, and will provide depth to a Dodgers lineup that has had struggles after the top of the order.

To make room for Biggio on the active roster, the Dodgers are expected to send down Miguel Vargas.

  1. Great. We need another utility guy that can’t hit like we need a hole in the head. He is just a lefty hitting Taylor.
