Dodgers Named as the Sports Business Journal’s Sports Team of the Year for 2021
The Dodgers are taking home another award before the 2021 season ends. They were named the Sports Team of the Year on Wednesday night at the 2021 Sports Business Awards. That ceremony was established by the Sports Business Journal to recognize excellence in sports business.
The Dodgers have a long history of being active and successful both on and off of the field. After winning the World Series in 2020, they were also named ESPN’s Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year. The team and their players were very active in the community during the pandemic in 2020, providing supplies and meals to people in need all over the country.
Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten spoke on Wednesday about receiving the prestigious award.
We’re humbled to receive this prestigious honor and be recognized by our industry as Sports Team of the Year. This is truly an organizational award, and from top to bottom, I could not be prouder of our players and staff for the way we embraced and overcame the challenges of the past year.
The Dodgers also opened up their stadium in 2020 for a number of different humanitarian efforts. They held food drives, kept the stadium opened for COVID-19 testing, and fully transition to a vaccination center. Chavez Ravine was also open during the Presidential election in November for residents.
