Dodgers News And Rumors: Ethier Line Drive Hits Koufax On The Head

Los Angeles Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax was struck by an Andre Ethier line drive during batting practice this morning. Serving as an advisor to chairman Mark Walter, Koufax has been at spring training working alongside the entire pitching staff. The former starting pitcher was watching and assisting bullpen sessions when he was hit by this line drive.

The 78 year old managed to stay on his feet once he was pelted by the ball, immediately showing hopeful signs that he wasn’t seriously injured. Despite his consciousness, Koufax was taken off the practice field in a golf cart to be examined by the team’s trainers. Despite getting a CT scan on his head, he swore his injury is more of a bruise than anything. No stitches were needed despite the sizable cut across his forehead.

Although he admitted to feeling a little dizzy, he returned to the Major League clubhouse 15 minutes after being taken to the Minor League clubhouse for examination. At this point, he’s hopeful a visible cut on his forehead for a few weeks is the worst he will endure. He even joked he’d wear a helmet on the field tomorrow and all signs point to him being back out there in the morning.
