Dodgers News: MLB Insider Predicts World Series Title for LA in 2023

Everyone knows you can’t predict baseball, which is why every article predicting baseball starts with a disclaimer that you can’t predict baseball. Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com is the latest writer to attempt the impossible, and he made one bold prediction that will stand out to Dodgers fans.

So… who will win it all?
Prediction: Dodgers.

The Dodgers won 111 games last year but are somehow not the hot item on the menu. Because they typically come up short in October, because they lost important pieces in free agency while abstaining from the top end of the free-agent market, they will not be as popular a pick to win it all as they once were.

Their inaction creates opportunity — and I’m taking it. Give me those underdog Dodgers to win it all, because — news flash — they’re still very good. Younger, perhaps, as prospects like Miguel Vargas, James Outman and Bobby Miller begin to step into big league roles, but very, very good. And with Walker Buehler perhaps inching toward a September return, they could enter October primed to overcome the heartbreak of postseasons past. In the World Series, they will defeat a Yankees team that finally gets over the ALCS hump.

Dodgers over Yankees. So it is written, so it shall be. (Er, maybe not.)

It’s kind of funny how things get phrased. The Dodgers have one World Series title and two World Series losses (including one against a team that cheated to win) in the last six seasons, and they “typically come up short in October.” The Astros, meanwhile, have one legitimate World Series title, two World Series losses, and a World Series they cheated to win, and they “own the AL” earlier in the column. Oh well.

Anyway, Castrovince predicts the Padres will beat the Dodgers in the NL West before losing to the Cardinals in the NLDS, and then L.A. will beat St. Louis in the NLCS to face the Yankees in the World Series.

It’s a fun prediction, even though, as I might have mentioned, you can’t predict baseball. Dodger fans would surely be fine with L.A. losing the NL West if they won the World Series anyway, although my preference would be for them to win the NL West with a 132-30 record and then win 11 straight games in October to win it all. As long as we’re predicting an unpredictable game, I’ll go ahead and predict that.
