The Los Angeles Dodgers made a huge free agency move Tuesday, signing All-Star closer Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million deal.
Diaz is one of the best closers in the game, having posted a 1.62 ERA to go with 28 saves last season.
Freddie Freeman has represented Team Canada in the last two World Baseball Classics, but his participation for the 2026 WBC may be in jeopardy.
Freeman, after playing a 147-game regular season and featuring in all of the Dodgers’ postseason games, has “a little bit of a health issue.”
The Dodgers still have plenty of time to make signings this offseason, and one player who could return to LA is Kiké Hernandez.
“The Dodgers are interested in re-signing Kiké Hernández after re-signing Miguel Rojas,” Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain said. “…All signs point to Kiké Hernández being back with the Dodgers after that Miguel Rojas signing. I’m very confident that’s going to happen. You just have to wait towards spring training when that 60-day IL opens up, and he can sign, go on [the injured list] and rehab and hopefully he’s back in a couple of months.”
