Dodgers Notes: LA Signs Another All-Star, Michael Kopech Injury, Jack Flaherty Sends Message to MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers decided their A-plus offseason needed another move, so on Tuesday, they made yet another reported addition, signing All-Star right-handed reliever Kirby Yates.

Yates, 37, had a 1.17 ERA with the Texas Rangers last season, the lowest of his 10-year career.

Yates made the All-Star team for the second time in his career last season. His first All-Star appearance came in 2019 with the San Diego Padres, when he had a 1.19 ERA.

The Yates signing seemed to come out of nowhere, but it made a little more sense after reports came out about right-handed reliever Michael Kopech’s injury.

Kopech could possible miss up to the first month of the 2025 season, per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Thus, the addition of Yates is more of a necessity.

And finally, free agent Jack Flaherty sent a message to MLB about the Dodgers on social media.
