Dodgers Offer Kyle Tucker ‘Huge Short-Term Deal’

The Los Angeles Dodgers are still very much alive in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes.

Tucker remains the top free agent available in the market, and all signs point to him signing with one of three teams: the New York Mets, the Toronto Blue Jays or the Dodgers.

The race is getting tighter and tighter, and soon enough, we will know who will snag up the four-time All-Star. The Dodgers have a great case to sign Tucker, and a potential contract for him has reportedly been revealed.

According to USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers are ‘lurking with a high short-term deal.’

“The Blue Jays have discussed a long-term contract with Tucker that pays him less money per season, while the Dodgers also are lurking with a huge short-term deal.”

Nightengale also added that the Mets are willing to pay Tucker an average of about $50 million per season. If he decides to go with that deal, he would earn the third-highest AAV in MLB history behind Mets superstar Juan Soto and Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The Dodgers would love to get their hands on Tucker; however, they are not willing to make a long-term deal for him. Los Angeles doesn’t mind giving him the money he wants, but it will be on a short-term contract.

The Dodgers and the Mets are the two teams offering Tucker a shorter deal, compared to the Blue Jays, who want a long-term commitment from the Florida native.

The 28-year-old will continue to weigh his options; however, a deal could materialize as soon as Wednesday. Tucker entered this winter among the best free agents, and he is without a doubt the best remaining as the season is a little over two months away.

If the Dodgers were to land Tucker, they wouldn’t just add another All-Star, but it would shore up their outfield, which is an area they were atrocious in last season. LA may not need Tucker, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have an elite left-handed hitter, plus a solid outfielder who would be a massive upgrade to what the Dodgers had in 2025.

  1. Simple question, does Tucker care about winning or does he care about money? If it’s the latter go with the Blue Jays or Mets. His best chance to win is with LA.

    1. I would just have him speak to Ohtani, Betts, Rojas, & Kershaw to get first hand insights on what it is like to be a Dodger .
